Peter White

Team Member Since 2018

Peter is a 38-year-old biology professor who teaches at Lyman Briggs College, MSU. He is a passionate educator and has a dual research focus in urban moth ecology and evolution education. In the summer of 2015, he woke up one morning and realized he was out of shape and overweight. So, he bought a used elliptical machine and spent the rest of that summer eating healthy and exercising in the basement. During most of the next year, he focused on 5K's then a friend encouraged him to give triathlons a shot. Peter competed in his first triathlon in August of 2016 and has been hooked ever since. In 2017, he competed in eight triathlons, including his first half-iron distance that October. Outside of triathlon, Pete has two kids, ages 4 and 7,  with a third on the way. He is currently learning how to renovate his basement so that his soon-to-be expanded family has more living space. In his spare time, he… wait… who are we kidding? LOL! Between basement renovations, family time, triathlon training, and his job, he has no spare time.

2018 GOALS

While I love triathlons, I am committed to not making any personal racing goals this year. My goal for this summer is to spend quality time with my family and to be the most supportive and caring dad that I can be, as my wife and I welcome our third child. If my summer includes races and personal best times, then fantastic! If not, that’s ok too.
