Jason Hartzell

Jason Hartzell is a 41-year-old business owner in the Lansing area & has been for the past 13 years. He is originally from Kalamazoo and spent a large part of his younger years on his family's farm in Marcellus, MI. His love for running started in middle school when he ran cross country for Kalamazoo Academy. This fire kept burning through high school where Jason represented his boarding school, Wilbraham & Monson, in the class-D Massachusetts State Finals. He competed in high jump, 100m, 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay. After high school, Jason regrettably left the sport of running until about 11 years ago, when he showed back up on the competitive radar. Since then Jason has competed in running, duathlons & triathlons. Seven years ago, seeing the dream of LTT come together was a huge accomplishment. Five year's ago the highlight was watching his 6-year-old son race and win his first triathlon and the very next day racing & winning his own first Olympic distance triathlon! In 2013 he saw the visualization of the dream of LTT come together in a tangible way with the planning & completion of the 1st Hawk-I-Kids-Tri & he partnered with teammate Nathan to start their own nutrition & fitness coaching business, T4 Endurance. In early 2016, Jason started working for a local chiropractic office as their weight loss/ health coach - a move he has wanted to make since graduating with his health coaching certificate in late 2014. These days Jason continues to focus on healing several injuries which have kept him from triathlon for the past several years. Additionally, he is pursuing a long time goal of entering the commercial real estate business. When Jason isn't "rehabing" or working, he enjoys spending time with his wife & 3 children. He also enjoys the great outdoors; including fishing, hunting & camping.

2018 GOALS

My goals for this year include continuing to recuperate from my low back & shoulder injuries as well as helping to grow the team and our outreach efforts to the community.
